King County Jail

Medications

Interview with Jenna and Cris

JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications?
Jenna: No you have to put in a slip to see a nurse, once you did that you would receive them when the medical cart came around.
Cris: No, I was sick when I was there and they denied medications. Even though I was throwing up in front of them.

JM: How did you get your medications?
Jenna: You have to see the nurse first.
Cris: NA

JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs?
Jenna: Thrown in the hole and it was written up. That I believe would get you a date with the judge, but I'm not sure.
Cris: NA

Once, again, in Booking they were OK. I am 61 and on high blood pressure medication. One of the meds was a catapress patch. The second day, I wss called in and told to remove it). I told the supposed "nurse" my doctor had said "Under no circumstances was I to stop that patch without consultation". This was to no avail.
The nurse said "the other inmates would use it for drugs". She made me take it off and throw it in the garbage. Thank goodness I was released on that afternoon, but she did not seem to know that at the time. What an awful place with no recourse. NURSE RATCHETT?
